I want every young person to know, especially from developing countries, that change is possible. You only have to believe in yourself.

Judith believes we all have the power to make a positive change in our communities. She has dedicated herself to building inclusive spaces where education becomes a tool for empowerment for students who need it most.

By combining language learning, academic support, and a spirit of service, she continues to lead a movement that uplifts children and young people.

Besides Teach to Lead, she is a Youth Ambassador at the World Literacy Foundation and a full-time student at USF.

Meet our Story

Teach to Lead began with a simple idea: helping one child learn English.

In the spring of Judith's junior year, her eight-year-old cousin told her how she visited the United States for the first time after losing a loved one. And how, during the trip, she struggled to communicate with her American cousins because neither side spoke the other’s language. Having attended a bilingual school in Honduras, the founder offered to teach her English, never expecting the idea to grow beyond family.

But after sharing the opportunity within the community, ten students signed up almost immediately.

That moment revealed a deeper reality: access to quality bilingual education in Honduras is still a privilege that many families cannot afford. In a country where educational inequality and underfunded schools continue to limit opportunity, Judith realized that knowledge should not belong only to those fortunate enough to access it.

What began as a small tutoring initiative became Teaching Young Minds, and later evolved into Teach to Lead (TTL), a youth-led organization dedicated to educational access, leadership development, and community impact.

Today, TTL serves students across multiple communities in Honduras through ESL tutoring, leadership camps, outreach initiatives, and literacy programs. The organization has directly impacted more than 70 students, reached over 182,000 people online, and partnered with organizations including Asociación Semillas Triunfadoras, BECA Schools, and Be Reading.

The mission behind TTL is deeply personal. Having experienced financial uncertainty, disappointment, and the challenges of pursuing education as an international student, Judith chose not to wait for opportunities, but to create them for others as well. Even while continuing to grow and navigate challenges personally, she remains committed to sharing the opportunities and knowledge they once had access to.

Teach to Lead was built on the belief that education is a human right, not a privilege and that young people have the power to transform their communities when given the opportunity to lead.
